Maddy Rudolph presents her NSERC USRA work at showcase event

Senior thesis student Maddy Rudolph, a student in McMaster’s Faculty of Health Sciences unique Biomedical Discovery and Commercialization program, first joined the lab in May 2016 with an NSERC Undergraduate Summer Research Award. Maddy and her ‘biofilm buddies’ Sawyer and Mike are investigating the mechanisms underlying the stimulation of P. aeruginosa biofilm formation by sub-MIC antibiotics. This work is relevant to understanding how bacteria cause chronic infections, and the phenotype can potentially be used to reveal sub-MIC drugs in complex mixtures. Today Maddy presented her work at McMaster’s annual NSERC USRA showcase, where students from all areas of NSERC-funded research meet to celebrate their discoveries.
