Mike Ranieri wins 1st place poster presentation award at 2016 IIRF

Mike Ranieri, a new MSc student in the Burrows lab, presented his research on P. aeruginosa biofilm stimulation by the thiopeptide antibiotic thiostrepton and its mechanism of killing at today’s Infection and Immunity Research Forum at Western University. The judges – who awarded him first place in the Master’s student category – were impressed to learn that he joined the lab as a summer student only a few months earlier, and has been in the MSc program for all of 3 weeks. Mike did his BSc in Co-op Biochemistry at McMaster with a thesis in the Magarvey lab, and is a great addition to the Burrows lab team. Congratulations Mike!
